Hollyhock Queeny Purple

Foliage: Velvety, fuzzy textured, herbaceous leaves. Lovely medium green colour.
Soil: Well draining soil rich in organic material.
Sun: Part shade to full sun.
Water: Average water needs. Water regularly but do not overwater.
When to plant: Late winter to spring, after last frosts.
How to plant: Lightly press seeds into seed raising mix and lightly cover with the soil. Keep moist but not wet. Seeds should germinate between 14 to 28 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle (about 4-6 in/ 10-15 cm high) to 4 in / 10 cm pots. Gradually introduce plants to the outdoors over a period of 2 weeks.
Suggested soil: 1/2 potting mix, 1/4 organic material, 1/4 perlite.
Fertilising: Fertilise with a water soluble complete fertiliser once a month during growing season.
Seed collecting: Allow seedheads to dry on plants, then remove and collect seeds.
Pests & Diseases: Rust, leaf spot, aphids and cut worms.
Tips:
- Attracts bees, butterflies and/or birds.
- Self sows freely. Deadhead (remove flower heads) if you don’t want volunteer seedlings next season. Deadheading also encourages the plant to re-bloom.
- Dwarf hollyhock doesn’t need staking.
