I gave up with gardenias entirely on my balcony - and azaleas, and all the other lime haters. Our water is just too hard and rain doesn't get onto the balcony so I can't collect rainwater. I tried using boiled water, adding a dash of vinegar, decalcifying products etc, but nothing ever worked. Hadn't heard about the coffee trick though. Let us know if it's successful.

I know how that goes. I just last a few liriope plants myself to bad weather. But keep your head up and your thumb green. I'm sure things will turn around for you.
